Our Approach to Dog Training

Through books, blogs, social media channels and businesses, there are probably more than a thousand suggestions on how to train your dog. It can be really difficult to know which method will work best for you and your dog. At Sky & Rain Dog Training, we care about one thing: your success. And, we will do everything within our powers to make your success a reality.

1. Understand

We start with a free consultation at your house. This allows us to get to know each other and gives us a chance to get a better understanding of your dog.

From here we will talk through what training will look like for both you and your dog. If, however, after the consultation I am not confident I can help you reach your goals, I will recommend a training program that can help.

The first session will give you a feel for me and the way we train. There is no required amount of sessions.

Our training model only works if we are able to help you reach your goals. If at any point you are not happy, we can stop the training.

2. Teach

We will meet weekly to be consistent and maintain motivation. In these sessions, you will gain an understanding of both the commands and of your dog and his/her behaviors relevant to the commands. Your dog and I will show you what the commands look like and then I will explain how to work with your dog in the upcoming week.

Some of the commands and behaviors need to be worked in a specific order, while others can be prioritized based on your needs.

3. Support

The hardest part for me when I was going through training with Sky was remembering all of the information that I had just learned. When it came down to working with her, things inevitably went wrong, and I couldn’t remember why or how to fix it.

That’s why we are here. We will support you and your dog while you train during the week. We will also have information on how to troubleshoot when your dog does not meet your expectations. Our goal is for you to be able to understand why your dog is responding the way he/she is and to be able to figure out how to help him/her.

If you do have a challenge or a win you would like to share, we are available throughout the week. Communication is key when it comes to progression. The more information we have, the easier it will be for us to help you stay on target. Remember, it is our job to help you and your dog succeed
