Our passion for obedience work, and the occasional party trick, was born out of necessity. I had never been around dogs my entire life, let alone owned one, when 6-week old baby Sky came into my life. I not only had no clue what I was doing, but I also found out the dog I had adopted was a cattle dog mix. After two failed training companies, I was ready to relinquish my stubborn, bossy dog to a shelter. That’s when I found a third training company and the two men who would change our lives.

The relationship that was forged through obedience work had an indelible impact on Sky, Rain and myself. So much so that I decided to make a career change and learn as much as possible from the two men who changed our lives. They imparted an incredible amount of wisdom and knowledge on me, giving me a couple of years experience training dogs professionally.

Sky

Sky was born on March 21, 2016 in Kansas City. Her 7 siblings and her mom were all rescued from an abandoned burning building. I visited my best friend in Kansas City for her final professional soccer game. While in KC, my path crossed with Sky (then Maxx) and in a single afternoon, I knew I couldn’t be without her.

She is a Cattle Dog / German Shepherd mix by DNA, but 100% cattle dog by her attitude and behavior. She’s bossy, fixes energy she doesn’t like, refuses to cuddle and demands belly rubs all day long.

Sky is my once in a lifetime dog - my soulmate, my best friend and my whole heart. She has taught me how to unconditionally love, and taught me what to expect from love from others.

Rain

Rain was born on February 6, 2018 in the Poconos with 12 siblings. I was looking for a high-energy play partner for Sky and a cuddly and affectionate dog for me. I also wanted to get into upland hunting.

Trained on pheasant, hunting gave her an outlet for her insane prey drive. She’s a little bit of an odd duck - more an animal than a pet - but she is also an intense Velcro dog, which I love. Sky & Rain are perfect siblings not because they run around the yard together, but because they steal each other’s bones :)

Rain is an all or nothing dog. She puts everything she has into every single thing she does every day. Her obedience work is flawless and her drive and dedication inspire me daily.

Erin

I was born, well, many decades ago. Soccer took up 22 of those years, playing at DePaul University and playing professionally for St. Louis Athletica in the WPS. The rest of those years were filled with many things, such as the saxophone, basketball, Spanish, cycling, my marketing company, hiking, traveling, family time, flamingos and gardening.

COVID changed many things, my business included. I was able to make it a couple of years before I simply could not operate in it any more. Lucky for me, my business partner is a rock star and she continues to grow the business.

I took this time to jump into the dog training world. My friends brought me on and taught me, day in and day out, how to understand and work with dogs. I will never be able to pay them back for everything they did for me, but I will pay it forward by helping others.

I volunteer at The Buddy Foundation three days a week, training and walking the complicated dogs. This is where I was able to create my style of training. It’s also where I continue to learn, as we are always getting in new dogs, and every dog presents a new challenge. I truly am passionate about helping both dogs and people and hope to be able to have a positive impact on you.
